UnRuly Cloth & Canvas

UnRuly Cloth & Canvas

I have been asked  to refrain from including/inviting discussions around the " What if Diaries" topics here on my blog , so I shall no longer refer to the individual topics but focus on developing my personal progress on my own :-)

So I feel curbed ... but I can understand artists personal protectiveness over their material and anxiety over it "leaking out" , even though that has never been my personal goal .. again I feel alone in my understanding that art is so beautifully wide open and left expansive to personal interpretation that keeping it closed up behind doors that contain mountains of pennies is such an alien concept to me .

But I am respectful to the wishes of others and acknowledge that people make their living from running workshops , courses and tutorials and therefore wish to keep a lid on it .

I shall continue under my personal  " UnRuly Cloth & Canvas " name the exploration of meeting points between mixed media  and fibre art ...

UnRuly

:::

yesterdays discoveries led to this big resonance within me
 that I do like
random
 unpredictable
 mysterious
odd
UnRuly

design
whether that be in cloth or canvas

the meandering path
the embracing exactly what is in front of me without loosing focus on internal observation

on so I shall continue pondering ...

Tiny Bases - UnRuly Cloth & Canvas

Tiny Bases - UnRuly Cloth & Canvas

Gathering some white and whiteish fabric and cloth I have here,
noticing that there is not a lot of pure white in my stash but rather what I call off white...

Not quite white,
not quite perfect
Not quite pristine
 not quite clean
 rebellious white
 inclusive white,
 odd white
ODD WHITE
And that is just fine with me

Noticing White right outside my back door

Starting with a little invisible Glue Stitch to connect two tiny bases together , contemplating the concept of whitening

 :::

making whiter
 changing appearances on the surface
when underneath the  exciting patterning becomes the life force of the piece

Adding a little appliqués surface stitch ... one of Jude Hill's sentences truck a resonance

" when you don't measure a circle but draw your own
each one will be slightly different
and turn into more of a stone "

:::

Stone...
I could not resist trying and let myself add an appliquéd "circle" , letting it wander where it wanted to

adding a few stitches
some meandering straight stitch
 some french knots
 some random tuck stitches
 to define its surface

all the while staying alert to observing my emotions
noticing that

I do not like predictable stitches
I do not like  whitest of white
I do not like knowing where I am going

I like
random
unexpected
mysterious
off
odd
White
